Three suspects arrested on suspicion of armed robbery and attempted carjacking

SAN MATEO — Three suspects were arrested by San Mateo police after an attempted armed robbery and carjacking on Tuesday night.

San Mateo police received a call around 8:03 p.m. of an armed robbery and attempted carjacking. Police said the victim was selling a watch on the internet and met with the suspects in the Marina Plaza parking lot at the intersection of East Hillsdale Boulevard and South Norfolk Street. The meeting turned into a robbery; one of the suspects was armed with a pistol, the victim told police.

Authorities instated a shelter-in place-order that lasted between one and two hours after the suspects fled south on Norfolk Street into the Las Prados neighborhood.

The shelter in place order was lifted around 10:24 p.m. after the suspects were arrested and the pistol was located. All roadways in the area were then opened up again.

All three suspects were booked into San Mateo County Jail on suspicion of armed robbery and attempted carjacking.
