The long-gestating second 9-1-1 spinoff may be getting closer to reality. Nothing is locked yet but conversations continue about a new installment of the first responder drama as spinoff 9-1-1: Lone Star is coming to an end.
As Deadline reported last month, unlike 9-1-1, which moved to ABC after six seasons on Fox, Lone Star is not expected to make the same transition after its current fifth and final season on Fox. Instead, 9-1-1 would get another spinoff on ABC in a new location, with Las Vegas among potential cities considered to follow Los Angeles (9-1-1) and Austin (9-1-1: Lone Star).
9-1-1 and Lone Star are created and executive produced by Ryan Murphy, Brad Falchuk and Tim Minear, with Minear spearheading the franchise as showrunner. He and Murphy have been discussing a new installment, which is being eyed for next season.
That could potentially give Murphy a full night of programming on the network with two 9-1-1s and Doctor Odyssey. The 9-1-1 franchise is produced by 20th Television and Ryan Murphy Prods.
