Firefighters discovered the bodies of a person and a dog after they put out a burning mobile home in North Hollywood Thursday night, Sept. 5, authorities said.

The medical examiner’s officer has not yet identified the body nor determined if the person found was a man or a woman.

The cause of the fire is under investigation but it is not deemed suspicious at this time, said Margaret Stewart, a spokeswoman for the Los Angeles Fire Department.

The fire in the 7400 block of North Varna Avenue was reported to the fire department around 5:30 p.m.

Firefighters notified LAPD after the body was discovered.

Police took a report but isn’t investigating the death, Officer David Cuellar, an LAPD spokesman, said. The medical examiner’s office will determine the cause of death, he added.
